Bernard William Harris, of Quincy Village, Waynesboro, PA, died Wednesday July 24, 2024, in Greenup, IL while traveling with family. He died a month before what would have been his 90th birthday.
Bernie was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and will be missed by his family and many friends. Born in Hanover, PA, he was the son of George and Margaret Harris. He was raised in Westminster, MD and graduated from Westminster High School in 1952. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy
aboard the U.S.S. Megara in the Mediterranean. He graduated from the University of Baltimore with a Bachelor of Science in Business Management in 1962. While in Baltimore, working for IBM, he met the love of his life, Edna Wysong. They married September 11, 1960.
He worked in the garment industry for the Greif Company, a maker of fine men's suits. He led a team using computer-guided lasers for the precision cutting of fabric for suits, which was an emerging technology in the e
